Billy Joe Santos, 43, and Maria Demelo, 57, both of Bridgeport, were arrested on Thursday, Feb. 27, after Bridgeport Police responded to a call of a burglary on Ezra Street, said Scott Appleby, director of the Bridgeport Office of Emergency Management.
Responding police detained Demelo, and a K-9 officer was brought in to locate Santos, Appleby said.
At the same time, officers responded to the 100th block of Harlem Avenue where they found a vehicle used by the suspects.
Surveillance video from a camera provided officers with a description of Santos, who was later arrested attempting to enter a home on Harlem Avenue, Appleby said.
Santos was charged with criminal attempt at burglary and possession of burglar tools and held on a $10,000 bond.
Demelo was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of burglar tools and held on a $2,500 bond.
